Lisa Giovinazzo is a seasoned attorney, mediator, collaborative law practitioner, and therapist who brings over 25 years of experience and a rare dual expertise in both law and mental health to her clients. She is widely respected for her educated, focused, and compassionate approach to complex family matters, including contested divorce, high-net-worth separation, child custody disputes, and relationship transitions.
Lisa holds a Juris Doctorate from Touro College School of Law and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California’s Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work, where she specialized in counseling for children and families. This unique combination of training makes her one of the very few professionals in the field qualified to offer both legal services and therapeutic counseling. Her goal is not only to help her clients succeed in their legal matters—but to help them heal, grow, and thrive beyond divorce.
Lisa offers divorce coaching, discernment counseling, parenting support, and emotional guidance in addition to her robust mediation and collaborative law practice.
As one of the first attorneys to practice divorce mediation on Staten Island, Lisa has helped countless families find peaceful and cost-effective alternatives to litigation. She currently serves as Legal Director of the Staten Island Divorce Mediation Center (SIDMC) and has been a strong advocate for constructive, client-centered divorce processes.
Lisa’s passion for helping others is rooted in her own experience: her parents’ divorce was one of the longest and most expensive in Staten Island’s history—spanning over a decade. That experience gave Lisa a firsthand understanding of how devastating prolonged conflict can be for families. It also solidified her commitment to offering practical, compassionate, and swift resolutions that protect both the financial and emotional health of her clients.
Lisa is specially trained in Collaborative Law, an alternative to litigation that combines the structure of legal representation with the cooperation of mediation. In fact, she is one of the only attorneys on Staten Island certified by the New York State Supreme Court in this process and is an active member of the New York Association of Collaborative Professionals.
She is also affiliated with:
Family and Divorce Mediation Council of Greater New York
Association for Conflict Resolution
LGBTQ Collaborative Professionals of New York
New York Center for Interpersonal Development (Contributing Mediator & Parenting Program Lecturer)
Staten Island Children’s Museum (Board of Trustees)
American Red Cross – Staten Island Chapter (Trustee Member)
In addition to her legal and counseling practice, Lisa has served as a correspondent and legal commentator for NY1, PBS, and Bloomberg Television, offering expert analysis on legal and financial issues nationwide. She has also taught finance and administration as an adjunct professor in an Executive MBA program in New York City, and her background in the financial sector enhances her ability to address the complexities of high-asset divorces.
Whether you’re navigating a high-conflict divorce, unsure about whether to separate, or struggling to co-parent effectively, Lisa Giovinazzo offers the clarity and advocacy you need to move forward with confidence. She brings calm to crisis, strategy to uncertainty, and a fierce commitment to protecting what matters most: your family, your assets, and your future.

Every family is different. Every story matters. My goal is to help you move forward with peace and a plan.
